What happens in the 60 minutes

The session is built around one date: when your Looker contract renews.

  1. Your date and your setup.Renewal month, models, dashboards in use, embeds and schedules. We do not need your contract or what you pay.
  2. Fit against the date.Whether a move fits before the renewal, or whether a short renewal to cover the migration is the safer plan.
  3. The overlap plan. How long Looker and Omni would run side by side, worked back from your renewal date.
  4. Next steps. If you want to go further, we scope the work from what we found, and you can take that into the renewal conversation.

Plan the overlap before you negotiate

The part of a switch teams tend to underestimate is the stretch when both tools are live. We plan the migration backwards from your renewal date so the dual run fits the time you have. If it does not fit, you find out early enough to ask for a shorter term instead of signing for another full cycle.

How the migration runs

Four stages, each with an output you keep.

  1. Inventory and retire. We count the dashboards, Looks and explores people opened in the last 90 days. Your team signs off a keep, merge or retire list, so nothing dead gets rebuilt.
  2. Convert with Omnify.Omnify, our open-source LookML converter, translates views, fields and joins into Omni models. Our engineers review every change as a pull request in your repo and hand-build what Omnify cannot convert.
  3. Rebuild and parity test.Dashboards, schedules and embeds are rebuilt in priority order. Each one is compared with Looker on the same filters and date ranges, and every difference is explained or fixed in a tie-out log you keep.
  4. Cut over on your date.Looker and Omni run side by side until each dashboard owner signs off. Looker is switched off after that, with a checklist for the schedules and exports people forget.

Who this is for

  • Teams with a Looker renewal in the next 12 months
  • Data leaders who want a dated plan before the commercial conversation
  • Embedded analytics estates that cannot afford a reporting gap

Who it is not for

  • Teams using only the free Looker Studio
  • Teams already set on renewing, with no interest in a comparison

Questions

What does the review cost, and what do we commit to?

The review is free and you commit to nothing. If you go ahead, the migration is scoped as a fixed project from what we learn in the review.

Our renewal is less than three months away. Is that too late?

Not always. Smaller estates can move inside that window, and larger ones often sign a short renewal to cover the migration. The review tells you which applies to you.

Do you need our Looker contract or pricing?

No. A renewal month and a rough count of dashboards, models and users are enough for the review.

How long does a Looker to Omni migration take?

It depends on dashboards in active use, the size of your LookML, embeds and schedules. Zapnito's embedded analytics migration took four weeks (Jon Beer, COO: "all in 4 weeks").

What if staying on Looker is the right call?

Then we say so in the review. Our founders were early Looker team members, and we have no reason to push a migration that does not pay off for you.

How do you make sure the numbers match?

Every migrated dashboard is compared with its Looker original, metric by metric, on the same filters and date ranges. Each difference gets an explanation or a fix in a tie-out log. Looker stays on until each owner signs off.

Could we have an AI agent convert our dashboards ourselves?

It can redraw charts, and we use AI tooling ourselves. The hard part is the model underneath: shared definitions, access rules, schedules and embeds, and proof that every number matches before you switch. That is the work we do, and the AI helps us do it faster.
